Sharks, Leafs Deal

Compiled From Wire Services

The San Jose Sharks acquired veteran defenseman Todd Gill from the Toronto Maple Leafs for center Jamie Baker and a fifth-round pick in next week’s NHL draft.

Gill, 30, was the longest-serving current player on the Maple Leafs, having joined the team in 1984. He ranks 13th on club’s career games played list with 639. He had seven goals and 18 assists in 74 games last season.

Baker, 29, just finished his third season with the Sharks after spending one year with the Ottawa Senators and parts of three seasons with the former Quebec Nordiques.
