Malone’s Friend Dies

A 13-year-old cancer patient who was befriended by Utah Jazz star Karl Malone has died.

Danny Ewing, to whom Malone dedicated the Jazz’s sixth-game victory in the Western Conference finals against the Sonics, died Friday morning.

Malone, who has been out of town, will fly to Salt Lake to be the sole speaker at Ewing’s funeral Monday.
