Three Face Charges After Holdup, Chase North Spokane Convenience Store Robbed At Gunpoint
Two people robbed a north Spokane convenience store at gunpoint early Monday, then led police on a high-speed chase that ended with three arrests near Sprague, Wash.
The robbery took place about 2:30 a.m. at the Circle K store at 711 W. Hastings, sheriff’s deputies said.
Witnesses told deputies a teenage girl and a man armed with a rifle walked up to them as they milled around outside the store and demanded that they go inside.
Once in the store, the bandits ordered everyone onto the floor and demanded that the clerk open the cash register.
The robbers then grabbed cash from the register and the people on the floor, witnesses said. Deputies wouldn’t say how much money was taken.
Victims were told they’d be shot if they didn’t comply, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in District Court.
No one was hurt.
After the robbery, the bandits jumped into a white car and headed through Spokane at speeds of nearly 90 mph with some of the witnesses and police in pursuit, the affidavit states.
The robbers then sped west on Interstate 90 at speeds approaching 100 mph.
About 50 miles down the road, authorities stopped the car near the Tokio exit by flattening its tires with a spike belt stretched across the road.
Arrested were Hugo G. Carias, 20, address unknown, and a 17-year-old Spokane girl. They face charges of first-degree armed robbery.
Jose Gonzalo Cisneros, 21, who authorities said drove the getaway car, faces charges of first-degree armed robbery and attempting to elude police.
Another man and a juvenile girl who also were in the car were not arrested.
