Blaze Spices Lunch Rush At Restaurant

An overheated dryer apparently started a fire at Taco John’s on North Fourth Street.

The restaurant likely will be closed for cleaning and repairs through Monday.

The dryer, located in the basement, was drying towels and started the fire about 12:45 p.m “during a big lunch rush,” said Beverly Snider, general manager. The flames did some damage in the basement and there is smoke damage upstairs and downstairs.

It is the second fire in less than two years at the business. The other fire started after something hot was put in a plastic garbage can.

Taco John’s just underwent a $60,000 remodeling last winter that was not related to the earlier fire.
