Principals Hired At Two Elementaries

Carla K. Johnson Staff writer

Spokane School District 81 has hired two West Side principals who began their careers in Eastern Washington.

Beverly Lund, an elementary school principal in Mukilteo School District in Snohomish County, will replace John Corigliano at Whitman Elementary in northeast Spokane.

Corigliano returns to teaching.

Janet Gores, an elementary principal in Clover Park School District in Pierce County, will succeed Bob Pedersen at Wilson Elementary on the South Hill.

Pedersen was reassigned to Woodridge Elementary.

Lund, who has family in Spokane, began her career in 1979 as a teacher in Colville. Gores started teaching in 1982 in Central Valley.

The district still must choose a replacement for Principal Mike Dunn at Shadle Park High and Principal Dana Lyman at Ridgeview Elementary.

Lyman recently accepted the principal’s post at Midway Elementary in the Mead School District.

Midway Principal David Groth will return to teaching.

Dunn also was hired by Mead to head Mount Spokane High School, which will open in September 1997. He will spend a year as an administrator at Mead High.
