Omak Man’s Body Found; Acquaintances Arrested
The body of an Omak man was found Friday in a wooded area south of Keller, Wash., authorities said.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the killing of Pete Swimptkin, 65, whose body was found about 11:30 a.m.
Swimptkin was reported missing to Colville Tribal Police on May 16 by a relative, said Chief J.A. Goss Jr.
Swimptkin apparently was a friend of the suspects, Goss said.
Marvin Shepard, 32, and Oliver J. Riehart, 37, were arrested Thursday in Keller and Coulee Dam, Wash., after a friend of the men gave police a tip.
Goss said he’s not sure of the motive for the killing. He wouldn’t say how the victim was killed or if a murder weapon has been recovered.
Other arrests are expected, he said.
