Mead Senior Places Second

Christopher Clouse, a senior at Mead High School, has placed second among the national entries in the Norm Strung/Youth Outdoor Writing Contest sponsored by the Outdoor Writers Association of America.

Clouse’s story, “By a Tall Tree,” was published Dec. 25 along with other winners in The Spokesman-Review’s 1995 outdoor writing contest. Clouse follows a long tradition of young Spokane writers, including his brother, Chad, whose outdoor writing has been recognized at the national level. In 10 years, 18 finalists from the Spokesman-Review contest have gone on to place in the national competition.
