Hillary’s A Target For Inner Demons Lay Off Hillary: Don’t Make Her A Scapegoat.

The Soviet Union collapsed. So where were American people supposed to project their dark side? Well, at least some of that darkness alighted upon Hillary Rodham Clinton.

That’s Jean Houston’s theory of why Hillary has become such a focus of hate in our country. Houston has been painted in the press as some cheap, hotline psychic. But in reality she is a psychologist and author respected by women’s groups throughout the world. And Houston’s theory is worth considering, because the anger and rage expressed toward Hillary for almost every move she makes go way beyond a normal response.

Hillary is an intelligent, modern woman leading a very public life. She’s aggressive, yes. She’s a lawyer who acts like one. She probably tried too much too soon as first lady. If she’s done something truly wrong and unethical, investigations will reveal this.

But Hillary’s been analyzed, criticized and second-guessed so much that she is no longer just a woman or just the first lady. She’s the Evil Empire.

What a burden. And how unfair. It’s time to lighten up on Hillary. More important issues need our attention.

Remember, Hillary is also like many women you might know. She’s a wife, mother and professional trying to manage all three roles. She’s been through a lot. Her beloved father died just as she was tackling health-care reform. Then, she saw that reform fail. At middle age, Hillary is questioning the path she is supposed to walk now. She sought out an older woman mentor for guidance. If she were a close friend, you would feel sympathy and compassion. You might call her a risk-taker, a survivor, a role model.

Instead, Hillary’s called a crook, a flake, a bitch.

Enough. Hillary is a scapegoat. She’s a distraction from life’s bigger problems. It’s easier to call Hillary names than to figure out welfare and tax reform. It’s easier to get angry because you believe Hillary plotted dozens of White House cover-ups than it is to face your own demons.

When the Soviet Union fell, the billions we spent on the Cold War seemed wasted. In time, the Hillary obsession will seem a terrible waste, too.

Let it go.
