Ella Mae Yeager Spokane

Service for Ella Mae (Jones) Yeager, 82, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Yeager, who died Tuesday, was born in the Saltese area.

She and her husband, Henry Yeager, had lived in Farmington, Wash., and Spangle before they moved to Spokane in the early 1930s. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter, Laura Basden of Mead; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Richard Erickson Spokane

Graveside service for Richard Erickson, 58, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mount Hope (Wash.) Cemetery. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Rosalia, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Spokane, Mr. Erickson died Tuesday.

He drove a truck for Pepsi Cola in Spokane for more than 20 years. He was a member of teamsters Local 390.

He moved to Garfield a year ago to live with his daughter.

He is survived by one daughter: Tammy Erickson of Garfield, Wash.; one stepdaughter, two brothers and two half-brothers.

Jerald Evans Spokane

Memorial service for Jerald Alan (Rutty) Evans, 41, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Unity Church of Truth. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Evans, who died Tuesday, was born in Spokane.

He was a lifetime Spokane resident, and graduated from Shadle Park High School.

He worked as a cab driver and was a member of the Evergreen Club.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary Kay and Fred Dayharsh of Spokane; his stepmother, Ann Evans of New York; one sister, Linda Conard of Spokane; and his grandmother, Helen Evans of Wellsboro, Pa.

Lois Bryan Moses Lake

Graveside service for Lois R. Bryan, 61, will be at 1 p.m. today at Pioneer Memorial Gardens in Moses Lake. Kayser’s Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bryan, a former Spokane resident, died Monday from lung cancer. She was born in Twin Falls, Idaho.

She graduated from high school in Big Timber, Mont., and graduated from Deaconess Hospital Nursing School in 1955.

She married James Caine in 1955.

She moved to Moses Lake in 1976 and married Rosco “Bud” Wiser.

She had worked as a registered nurse in Spokane and Moses Lake.

She married Charles Bryan in 1993.

Survivors include her husband; her mother, Lena Read of Moses Lake; three daughters, Raye Ann Danelson of Spokane, Jackie Lipps of Vancouver, Wash., and Jerry Woodard of Moses Lake; one stepson, Ken Wiser of Moses Lake; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Lola Goding Naples, Idaho

Service for Lola Goding, 83, will be today at 11 a.m. at the Bonners Ferry (Idaho) Funeral Home. A victory party will follow the service.

Mrs. Goding, who was born in Hot Springs, S.D., died Monday.

She moved to the Bonners Ferry area in 1942 and bought a farm near Naples and raised a large family.

Mrs. Goding loved cooking, gardening, homemaking and farm life.

She was a founding member of the Sandpoint Christian Center and a member of the Women’s Aglow Fellowship.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Wayne; six sons, Lyle Goding of Michigan, Philip Goding of Bonners Ferry, David Goding of Renton, Wash., Ralph Goding of Sandpoint, Clyde Goding of Princeton, Idaho, and Paul Goding of Kennewick; three daughters, Maxine Kingston of Sandpoint, Lois Carlin of Lake Stevens, Wash., and Pauline Battien of Medical Lake, Wash.; 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Donajean Williams Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Donajean Williams, 74, will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Williams, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.

She worked for the East Valley School District for 22 years as a cook.

Mrs. Williams enjoyed growing and arranging flowers, for which she had won numerous awards.

She was a member of the Berean Church and was a volunteer at the Spokane Valley Needy Family Foundation.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene last spring to be near her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Lindsay, in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Joann Carter of Athol, Idaho; one son, Robert Williams of Spokane; one brother, Richard Harrison of Colbert; a sister, Marie Parmley of California; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Dowdle Spokane

Visitation for Dorothy Ellen Dowdle, is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Spokane Faith Center.

Mrs. Dowdle, who died Wednesday, was born in Pomona, Calif.

She moved to Spokane with her husband, the Rev. Eugene Dowdle, in 1960. They pastored at several churches, and she was active in ministry at Spokane Faith Center.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Williams of Spokane and Darlene Osuna of California; one stepdaughter, Ann Willich of California; one son, Darryl Weilage of California; two stepsons, Werner Lee Dowdle and Lyndon “Red” Dowdle, both of California; and one sister, Hazel Barns of California.

Memorial Contributions may be given to Spokane Faith Center.

Harold Brown Sr. Nine Mile Falls

Service for Harold Richard Brown Sr., a retired Air Force master sergeant, will be at 1 p.m. today at Community Church of Our Savior in Nine Mile Falls. Lauer Funeral Home of Deer Park is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at the Wildrose Prairie Cemetery at Deer Park.

Mr. Brown, 76, died Tuesday.

He was born in Buffalo, N.Y.

During World War II, he served in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge, in Gen. George S. Patton’s 3rd Army. He retired from the Air Force in 1968 at Fairchild Air Force Base.

He later worked as a cabinetmaker at Deaconess Hospital and retired in the late 1980s.

He had a ranch in the Nine Mile Falls area and had lived in the area for more than 30 years.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pauline Brown; three sons, Harold Brown Jr., Clifford Brown and Bruce Brown, all of Nine Mile Falls; two daughters, Virginia McCartan of Nine Mile Falls, and Marlena Mann of Puyallup, Wash.; and 15 grandchildren.

Elmer Ottosen Fairfield

Service for Elmer Ottosen, 90, is set for 2 p.m. today at Fairfield Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Fairfield is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ottosen, who died Wednesday, was born in Mount Hope. He was a longtime Fairfield resident.

He was a bus driver for the Fairfield and Liberty School districts for 34 years.

He was a member of Fairfield Presbyterian Church and Moran Prairie Grange.

Mr. Ottosen is survived by his wife of 70 years, Olive Ottosen; one son, Donald Ottosen of Fairfield; one daughter, Helen Purdy of Coulee Dam; six grandchildren, numerous stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Hope Cemetery Association, Fairfield Presbyterian Church or the Good Samaritan Center in Fairfield.

Kathleen Kennedy Cheney

Memorial service for Kathleen M. Kennedy, 86, is set for 10 a.m. today at Cheney United Church of Christ. Cheney Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kennedy, who died Thursday, was born in Waverly.

She was a high school teacher and had lived in Cheney for 36 years.

Her husband, Kenneth Kennedy died in January 1995.

She is survived by one son, Pat Kennedy of Poquoson, Va., and one daughter, Karen Ruenheck of Windermere, Fla.

George Woods Spokane

Memorial service for George Leslie Woods, 54, will be at 11 a.m. today at Riplinger funeral Home.

Mr. Woods, who was born in Tonasket, Wash., died Sunday.

He lived in Tonasket until he was 20. He then entered the Air Force. Mr. Woods retired in 1981.

He had lived in Spokane for the past eight years and worked as a computer technician for Olivetti Co.

Mr. Woods is survived by two sons, Scott Woods of Spokane and John Woods of Portland, Maine; three daughters, Aunita Weeks of Tonasket, Teresa Shepler of Spokane and Paulla Woods of Omak, Wash.; one sister, Lois Kloth, and one brother, Ron Woods, both of Spokane; and eight grandchildren.

Eugene DeLeon Spokane

Private service was held for Eugene P. “Gene” DeLeon, 74. A reception is planned from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the Spokane Country Club. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement.

Mr. DeLeon died Monday at home.

He was born in Utica, N.Y.

He worked as an insurance agent for 35 years.

Mr. DeLeon served in the Army from 1946 until 1960.

He was a member of the Spokane Country Club and the Retired Officers Association.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marion DeLeon; one son, Charles DeLeon of Spokane; three daughters, Paula McFarland of Las Vegas, Nev., Ann Mattern of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Mary Cooley of Spokane; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Bertha ‘Byrdie’ Thain Evans Spokane

Visitation for Bertha “Byrdie” Thain Evans, 89, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private memorial service will follow.

Mrs. Evans died Wednesday. She was born in Moorhead, Minn.

She was a homemaker and had lived in Spokane since 1945. Two husbands, Joseph Thain and Frank Evans, preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sons, Ken and Richard Thain, both of Spokane, and Joseph Thain of Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Julie Hale of Deer Park; two sisters, Viola Sewell of Texas and Tillie Collins of Arizona; several foster children; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Elmer Williams Deer Park

Private burial for Elmer Paul Williams, 80, will be at 10 a.m. today at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Millwood Presbyterian Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Williams, who loved to garden, died Tuesday.

He was born on his father’s homestead in Colville, Wash.

He graduated from high school in Colville and, 59 years ago, married his wife, Angie.

Mr. Williams worked as an electrician, served in the Navy for a year and moved to the Spokane Valley after World War II. He sold real estate for 15 years.

He also started the Pumpkin Patch on Argonne Road in the Spokane Valley.

Four years ago he moved to Deer Park.

Mr. Williams was a master gardener, a member of Millwood Presbyterian Church, Spokane Garden Club and West Valley Kiwanis, and was a former chairman of the Pasadena Irrigation District.

He wrote a gardening column for the Valley Voice for a time.

He is survived by his wife; five sons, Stanley Williams of Orcas Island, Wash., James Williams of Snohomish County, Wash., Robert Williams and Kenneth Williams, both of Spokane, and Tim Williams of Deer Park; a daughter, Judith Lewis of Spokane; and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lilah Engelhart Spokane

Service for Lilah S. Engelhart, 94, is planned for 11 a.m today at Central Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Engelhart, who was born in Kidder, S.D., died Feb. 24 at her daughter’s home in Portland.

She graduated from Northern State Teacher College in Aberdeen, S.D., and taught school until she married Emerson Engelhart in 1925. He died in 1978.

She had worked at The Bon Marche for many years. She was a 60-year Spokane resident and was a member and Sunday school teacher at Central Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Robinson of Portland; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

LaVerne Blackburn Spokane

Memorial service for LaVerne E. Blackburn, 73, will be at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blackburn, who was born in Carnegie, Pa., died Tuesday at home. She had lived in Spokane since 1966 and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Blackburn; one daughter, JoAnn Packer of Spokane; two sons, Thomas Blackburn of Spokane and John Blackburn of Omak, Wash.; and one sister, Dorothy Starr of Lansing, Mich.

Yvonne Davis Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Yvonne N. Davis, 55, was held Friday at 11 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Davis, who was born in Santa Ana, Calif., died Saturday from lung cancer.

She grew up in Santa Ana, where she graduated from high school. She moved to North Idaho in 1969.

She moved back to Orange County before returning to the Coeur d’Alene area in 1992.

Mrs. Davis enjoyed hot rod runs, square dancing and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of the National Street Rod Association and loved her 1932 Ford sedan.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Wade; one son, Jeff Davis of Hayden Lake, Idaho; two daughters, Janet Miller, and Joann Davis of Coeur d’Alene; one stepdaughter, Debra Moreno of California; one brother, Ronald Nelson of Spokane; two grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

Blanche Wallace Issaquah, Wash.

Memorial service for Blanche Irene Wallace, 80, will be at 3 p.m. today at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church in Spokane. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane. Green Funeral Home in Bellevue, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wallace, a former Spokane resident, died Feb. 17 in Seattle. She was born in Faulkton, S.D.

She was a schoolteacher and taught in South Dakota for 40 years.

She and her husband, Douglas Wallace, moved to Spokane in 1970, when they retired.

Her husband died in 1975, and Mrs. Wallace moved to Issaquah, Wash., in 1988.

She is survived by one daughter, Margo Hollenbeck of Bellevue, Wash.; one sister, Wilma Grandpre of Aberdeen, S.D.; and three grandchildren.
