Cda Council Sued Over Lost Access

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane woman is suing the Coeur d’Alene City Council for abandoning an alley that accesses her property on Lakeshore Drive. The council voted to give up one end of the alley that runs between Taylor Street and Dollar Street. The change was requested by Jack Simpson, who owns the land the alley crossed.

The alley now dead-ends at Jennifer Allison’s property, 1303 Lakeshore Drive. Because the alley is no longer a thoroughfare, she cannot use it for garbage service, fire protection or police protection, said Charles M. Dodson, her attorney.

It also makes it difficult for Allison to get a truck and trailer to the back of her property for things like cleaning the yard, Dodson said.

The suit asks the court to overturn the City Council’s decision and award Allison attorney fees. , DataTimes
