Fedex, Pilot Agree To Tentative Contract

Compiled From Wire Services

Federal Express Corp. and the Air Line Pilots Association announced Monday that they reached tentative agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement for the company’s 3,000 pilots.

The tentative agreement must be approved by the FedEx pilots’ Master Executive Council and by FedEx pilots. No date has been set for the vote.

FedEx and the pilots union have argued over a work contract since 1994 and that dispute led to an attempt to disrupt cargo deliveries over the Christmas holidays. The new agreement will cover five years.

Basic terms of the agreement include pay increases, a portion of which is related to corporate profitability, work rule changes that provide improved flexibility and productivity, and enhancements to retirement benefits.
