Valley Elks broken into
A man wanted for burglary was captured early Saturday after a burglary at a Valley club, deputies said.
A large hole had been broken out of a window, a door was open and the burglar alarm was sounding when deputies arrived at the Valley Elks, 2605 E. Robie, about 2:30 a.m.
Deputies searched the area and found Mark James Cameron, 25, lying on a hill east of the Valley Elks building, said Lt. David Wiyrick.
After questioning Cameron, deputies charged him with second-degree burglary.
Cameron also was wanted on three felony warrants which included second-degree burglary and attempted second-degree burglary, Wiyrick said.
Cameron, who gave his address as 12119 E. Mansfield, was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Saturday’s burglary and on the outstanding warrants.
Man flees robbers Two people threatened to stab a man and tried to rob him Saturday night while he walked through a Valley neighborhood.
The 19-year-old victim told deputies he was on his way home from work about 7:35 p.m. when two people confronted him at Fifth Avenue and Carnahan Road.
One of the robbers grabbed the man and told him to take off his jacket or he would stab him, deputies said.
The victim did not see a knife and was able to squirm free and run from the robbers.
He described one robber as 22 or 23 years old, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. The other may have been a female, deputies said.
The victim was not injured.
Teen charged with burglary
Deputies charged a 15-year-old with burglary Friday night after a woman chased him from her Valley home.
The victim told deputies she heard a door open and went to see who was there. When she saw the teen in her kitchen, the woman started to scream.
Startled, the burglar grabbed the woman’s purse and ran from the house, deputies said.
Deputies later saw a teenager who matched the woman’s description of the burglar walking near Felts Road and DeSmet Avenue, Wiyrick said.
When they questioned him, deputies found a cellular phone and money taken during the burglary, Wiyrick said. The teen also showed deputies where he left the purse, they said.
Deputies charged the teen with burglary and booked him into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
Carload sprayed with pepper
Four people sitting in a car in a grocery store parking lot last Thursday night were sprayed with pepper spray.
The victims were waiting for a fifth person outside the Albertsons, 10 N. Pines, about 8 p.m. when a black sports car drove up.
The driver asked the people inside the car if there was a problem, then sprayed them with pepper spray and drove off, Wiyrick said. The car’s interior was saturated with the spray.
Deputies are looking for a man about 25 years old. He is described as 5-foot-10 and 210 pounds with brown hair.
One of the men inside the car was hit directly in the face by the spray. Paramedics flushed the man’s eyes. The other occupants were not injured.
