In New Orleans, Lennie Clements leads Tom Watson by a stroke after two rounds of the PGA Freeport-McMoran Classic.

Clements is at 11-under-par 133.

Also in New Orleans, Mike Sullivan apologized for saying Denver Nuggets guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf should be shot for refusing to stand for the national anthem. “It was an offhand, off-the-cuff comment that was a very poor attempt at humor,” the golfer said.

Brandie Burton shot a 3-under 70 to tie Val Skinner and Marianne Morris for the lead after the second round of the LPGA Standard Register Ping in Phoenix.
