Ywca Fund-Raiser Seeks $90,000
More than 750 people attended the annual YWCA benefit breakfast Tuesday at the Spokane Ag Trade Center.
They were asked to give $100 each to support programs for homeless children, domestic violence victims and breast cancer survivors. The fund-raising goal was $90,000.
“We’re all climbing mountains in pursuit of our goals,” said keynote speaker Stacy Allison, the first American woman to climb Mount Everest and a domestic abuse survivor.
Spokane’s YWCA serves an average of 62 homeless children daily in its Transition School. Its domestic violence shelter provided refuge for 500 women last year, said Executive Director Elizabeth Berry. , DataTimes
