Albertson’s Expands Distribution Centers
Albertson’s Inc. plans to expand its distribution centers at Boise and Portland.
Albertson’s is the fourth-largest retail food-drug chain in the United States, operating 769 stores and 12 distribution centers in 19 states.
The company said Wednesday it plans an expansion of 73,000 square feet at its Boise center. That will make the Boise facility, which provides health, beauty care and general merchandise to Albertson’s stores, 231,000 square feet.
The Portland center, which provides groceries and perishable products, will be expanded by 170,000 square feet to 792,000 square feet to serve new stores planned in Oregon and Washington. The company said both expansions are expected to be done by the summer of 1997.
