‘Babe’ Debut Leaves Restaurant Squealing

Compiled From Wire Services

The Oscar-winning Hollywood movie “Babe,” about a talking pig, is making it tough for at least one Bangkok restaurateur to bring home the bacon.

The unnamed restaurant owner told The Nation newspaper Friday that his sales of roasted piglets have dropped from more than 200 a day to fewer than 100 after the film opened in Bangkok.

Pork is a staple of the Thai diet, consumed in far greater quantities than beef.
