Harvey Martin Arrested

Compiled From Wire Services

Harvey Martin, a former Super Bowl MVP for the Dallas Cowboys, has been arraigned on charges of drug possession, assault and resisting arrest following a quarrel with his live-in girlfriend in Dallas.

The former defensive end contended that drugs were planted and that police beat him after the confrontation in his apartment. He also denied beating Debbie Clark, 36, who police said was bruised and had hair torn from her head.

Prosecutors charged Indianapolis Colts linebacker Quentin Coryatt with brandishing a handgun at another motorist in an incident two weeks ago in Indianapolis.

The charge, pointing a firearm, is a Class D felony, punishable by up to three years in prison.

In Columbus, Ohio, former Cleveland Browns running back Mike Pruitt was charged for allegedly falsifying a loan application with the state.

Dallas Cowboys safety Bill Bates decided not to join the Oakland Raiders, agreeing to terms on a one-year, $275,000 contract to play for the Cowboys a 14th season.
