Sampras Loses At Lipton

Goran Ivanisevic regrouped during a 48-minute rain delay in the second set and beat Pete Sampras 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals at the Lipton Championships at Key Biscayne, Fla.

Defending champion Andre Agassi advanced by beating Frenchman Arnaud Boetsch 6-4, 6-3.

Chanda Rubin, a 20-year-old Louisianian seeking her first WTA Tour title, will play four-time Lipton champion Steffi Graf in the women’s final today.

Monica Seles, who has already missed two tournaments because of a shoulder injury, withdrew from next week’s Family Circle Magazine Cup at Hilton Head, S.C.

Seles was injured en route to the Australian Open title in January.
