Gates Sees Bright Future For Internet

Compiled From Wire Services

Within 10 years, hooking up to the Internet will be as much a part of everyday life as talking on the telephone or watching television, predicts Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates.

But for now, traffic jams are becoming increasingly frequent as more people use the vast global computer network and as more audio and video are passed along, he said. Compared with text, audio and video use much more memory and take more time to transmit.

Gates envisions the Internet as the place where people will eventually go for information on absolutely everything.
