Guard Will Train Near Rathdrum
Kootenai County residents may see tanks and other armored vehicles on the roads this weekend.
The Idaho Army National Guard is holding its regular weekend training near Rathdrum today and Sunday.
The exercise is part of the 116th Engineer Battalion’s ongoing training program to enhance its combat readiness.
The unit provides combat support to armored and infantry units.
This weekend, the battalion personnel will practice clearing simulated mine fields and breaching anti-tank ditches and rivers.
The maneuvers involved are similar to real-world mine field clearing operations currently being used in Bosnia.
