Paroled Gang Author Now On The Run
The prison author of a best-selling book about life in a street gang has been on the run from authorities for nearly two months, but is keeping in touch with his agent and a movie director.
Kody Scott, who wrote “Monster: The Autobiography of an L.A. Gang Member,” fled his Southern California home March 7 when parole officers arrived to search and test him for drugs. Police had found about a gram of marijuana in his car the month before.
He had served four years in prison for armed robbery and possession of an assault weapon before being paroled last September.
Scott got in touch with his New York literary agent, Lydia Wills, after he fled. Antoine Fuqua, a director hired by Propaganda Films to make a movie about Scott, said the two are in touch daily.
