Volunteers Needed To Count City Trees

Compiled From Wire Services

The Sandpoint Independent Highway District needs volunteers to count city trees located in parking strips, rights-of-way and near power lines.

The district wants to identify trees that are hazardous to property, traffic and residents. The project was started in 1993 and another 40 city blocks of trees need to be inventoried.

Volunteers will receive training in species identification, measuring diameter and estimating the height and health of trees. People who want to volunteer as tree counters should contact Linda Lovick by May 9 at 263-8131.
