The heavy snowpack lingering in the mountains spells possible record spring flows - and a long rafting season - for many Idaho rivers.

Peter Grubb of River Odysseys West in Coeur d’Alene, said desert rivers such as the Owyhee should produce the longest floating season since 1978.

Bookings for river trips throughout the nation increased 15-20 percent after release of the popular movie “The River Wild,” Grubb said.

Predictions for lengthy runoff couldn’t have come at a better time, he said. , DataTimes
