Driver Has Seizure; Bus Strikes Light Pole

Associated Press

A school bus carrying more than 30 students crashed into a traffic-light pole Thursday after the driver apparently suffered a seizure, officials said.

The driver, a Puyallup woman in her 50s, was in critical condition undergoing evaluations for a possible brain aneurysm at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a nursing supervisor said Thursday night. The woman’s identity was not immediately available.

Five students injured in the crash were treated and released from area hospitals, Puyallup Police Sgt. Roger Cox said.

The accident occurred early Thursday morning.

Most of the students walked from the scene to their school, Kalles Junior High, which was about a mile away.
