Man Charged With Assault After Officer Is Attacked
A Spokane man was arrested Friday night after a police officer was attacked outside a North Spokane tavern.
Macon Reuben Robinson, 52, was booked into the Spokane County Jail on assault charges after he hit an officer in the face, according to police.
Police responded to the Hi Neighbor Tavern, at 2201 N. Monroe, where they found Robinson in the middle of the street at 7:30 p.m. A crowd of people who had gathered outside the tavern pointed to a man who they said was kicked out of the tavern for disorderly conduct, according to police spokesman Dick Cottam.
“She (the police officer) walked up to talk to him, and he turned around and hit her with a closed fist,” Cottam said.
Robinson grabbed the officer, and both fell to the ground, according to police.
The officer suffered cuts to her face, but was not hospitalized.
Robinson was being held at the Spokane County Jail late Saturday. Bail had not been set.
