Marion ‘Bud’ Chilson Spokane
Service for Marion “Bud” Chilson, 72, was Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial was at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mr. Chilson died Wednesday. He was born in Velva, N.D.
He did farm work in the Velva area before he joined the Army in 1943. He was discharged in 1946.
Mr. Chilson returned to North Dakota before moving to Spokane in 1950. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp. for more than 30 years and retired in 1983.
He was a member of the Loon Lake (Wash.) Moose Lodge and United Steelworkers of America Local 329 His wife of 26 years, Irene Chilson, died in 1995.
He is survived by one son, Larry Cress of Parkland, Wash.; one daughter, Dody Cress of Spanaway, Wash.; one brother, Dale Chilson of West Fargo, N.D.; and three grandchildren.
Myrtle Pointer Spokane
Family graveside service was held for Myrtle M. Pointer, 90.
Born in Moore, Mont., Mrs. Pointer died Wednesday.
She had lived in Spokane since 1923 and had worked as a matron in public schools.
Her husband, Homer Pointer, preceded her in death.
She is survived by one grandson, Michael Pointer of Spokane, one granddaughter, Paula Pointer-Ford of Ventura, Calif., and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
Charles Appleton Spokane
No service will be held for Charles D. Appleton, 87. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Appleton, who died Thursday, was born in Crystal, N.D.
He graduated from high school in Seattle and was self-employed in the retail and wholesale paint business in Spokane. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a B-26 tail gunner in the North African and Italian campaigns.
After the war he returned to Spokane and was again involved in the paint business and eventually entered a partnership with his brother, Albert Appleton, as Appleton Paints. He sold the business and retired in 1973.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Helen Patricia “Pat” Ferraro of Spokane; and one sister, Madeline Ditlevson of Olympia.
Roscoe Hawk Harrison, Idaho
A celebration of life for Roscoe O. Hawk, 90, will be at a later date. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home of St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hawk, who was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., died Friday.
He lived in Texas as a teenager and moved to Palm Beach, Fla., where he lived for 50 years. He worked as a carpenter. He moved to Harrison Flats five years ago.
Mr. Hawk was divorced.
Survivors include his son, Ronald Hawk of Harrison Flats; five sisters; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Howard Petitt Kellogg
Private family service for Howard P. Petitt, 79, will be at a later date. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Petitt, who was born in Arkansas, died Saturday.
He moved to the Silver Valley in the 1950s and worked for the Bunker Hill Mining Co. for 27 years before retiring in 1981. Mr. Petitt was a member of the Bunker Hill 20-Year Club.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Wilma; one son, Dale Petitt of Kellogg; one daughter, Dena Pouttu of Kellogg; one brother, Jack Petitt of Oklahoma; and two sisters, Opal Vaugh of Oklahoma and Faye Green of Texas.
Telisha Shaver Spokane
Memorial service for Telisha Shaver, 22, is planned for noon Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. A wake will follow at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Shaver died April 28. She was born in Spokane.
She graduated from West Valley High School and had worked as a golf caddie in Palm Springs, Calif., and had planned to work as a caddie this summer at The Coeur d’Alene Resort.
She is survived by her parents, Roger and Sherry Shaver, Spokane; two sisters, Venus Shaver and Dalee Turner, both of Spokane; her grandmother, Alice Nelson-Slater; and her fiance, Larry Gamboa of Spokane.
Judith Willey Coeur d’Alene
Service for Judith Pitzen Willey, 54, will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston.
Mrs. Willey, who was born in Montana, died Friday.
She was raised in Big Sandy, Mont., and moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1959.
She had worked as a waitress.
Mrs. Willey was preceded in death by her husband, Richard.
Survivors include her parents, Steve and Ethel Kalanick of Big Sandy; two brothers, Ronald Kalanick of California and Richard Kalanick of Montana; and a sister, Ethel Atkinson of Coeur d’Alene.
Dean Campbell Spokane
Memorial service for Dean L. Campbell, 59, will be at a later date. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Campbell, who was born in Denver, died Thursday.
He moved to Spokane in 1969 and worked in quality assurance for manufacturing companies, including Key Tronic.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife of 25 years, Beryle Campbell; his parents, Ike and Ruth Campbell of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sisters, Bonnie Campbell of Navato, Calif., and Kathy Patrick of Cambria, Calif.; one brother, Stan Campbell of California; one stepson, W.E. “Bud” Pederson of Spokane; one daughter, Julie, and one son, Steven, both of Minnesota; three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.

Fred Winkler Jr. Rathdrum, Idaho
Private family service for Fred A. Winkler Jr. 80, was held earlier. English Funeral Chapel of Post Falls was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Winkler, who was born in Spokane, died Friday.
He graduated from Whitworth College, Washington State University and the University of California at Berkeley.
He worked at many occupations and served in the Navy at Bremerton during World War II.
He worked as a stock broker and was a coordinator in developing the vinyl medical examination glove, later owning and operating a medical company for 30 years.
Mr. Winkler was a violinist in the Spokane Symphony and was the author of a book on railroads called “The Conductor.”
He was involved with the Spokane area Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Evelyn; one son, Fred Winkler III of Puyallup, Wash.; and one daughter, Kristine of Rathdrum.

Flossie ‘Mickey’ Blinn Santa, Idaho
Service for Flossie “Mickey” Blinn, 93, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries.
Mrs. Blinn, who was born in Kentucky, died Thursday.
She grew up in Sublet, Idaho, before moving to Hope, Idaho.
Mrs. Blinn later moved to Santa and became a homemaker.
She was divorced once and was preceded in death by her second husband, Christian, in 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Curtis Sturgill of Greenacres and Roy Sturgill of Oregon; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Agnes Fall Spokane
Vigil service for Agnes L. Fall, 88, is planned for 7 p.m. today at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Burial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Fall, who died Sunday, was born in Butte, Mont.
In 1927 she married Paul Fall Jr. in Butte, and they came to Spokane in 1954.
Mrs. Fall was a homemaker.
Her husband died in 1991.
She is survived by four daughters, Marion Gilbert of Fresno, Calif., Jean Moore of San Diego, Lorriane Monville of Spokane and Paulette Reed of Oroville, Wash.; four sons, Ray, Dan, and Jim Fall, all of Spokane, and Bob Fall of Sheridan, Wyo.; four sisters, Mary Rule of Albany, Ore., and Margaret Lohman, Jeanette Murphy and Lorraine Rolando, all of Butte; 31 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren.
Clarence Gaustad Spokane
Visitation for Clarence O. Gaustad, 92, is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Gaustad, who was born in McCook, S.D., died Sunday.
He moved to Spokane in 1942 and worked as a carpenter for 45 years. He also had a small farm.
He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 48.
His wife, Karen Gaustad, died in 1969.
He is survived by five daughters, Doris Niemeyer and Ronnie Gaustad, both of Spokane, Joan Lundeen of Reardan, Wash., Carol Hood of Hartline, Wash., and Judy McCormack of Lacey, Wash.; two sons, Larry Gaustad of Spanaway, Wash., and Wayne Gaustad of Antioch, Calif.; one stepbrother, Forrest Dawson of Chicago; 26 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Lawrence Peterson Walla Walla
Graveside service for Lawrence Willard Peterson, 91, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Riverside Memorial Park in Spokane. Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Reardan (Wash.) First Presbyterian Church. Herring-Groseclose Funeral Home of Walla Walla is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Deep Creek, Wash., Mr. Peterson died Thursday at home.
In 1931 he moved to the Edwall, Wash., area, where he farmed. In 1992 he moved to Walla Walla to be near his son.
He married Alice Gimlin in Pullman in 1945.
Mr. Peterson was a member and elder of Reardan First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Waukon Grange, Reardan Masonic Lodge, Davenport Order of the Eastern Star No. 131, Reardan Grain Growers, Edwall Grain Growers, Edwall Chemical Corp. and the Washington Association of Wheat Growers.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Nancy Solberg of Carnation, Wash., and Janice Foley of White Plains, N.Y.; one son, Jim Peterson of Walla Walla; one brother, Gilbert Peterson of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

Mary Kate Willson Colfax, Wash.
Memorial service for Mary Kate (Hall) Willson, 95, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Colfax. Family burial service will precede the service at Bethel Cemetery of Steptoe, Wash. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Willson, who died Saturday at home, was born in Lenore, Tenn.
She graduated from Steptoe High School.
In 1917 she married William Willson in Colfax. They lived and farmed in the Green Hollow area near Colfax until they retired in 1952.
They moved into Colfax in 1953.
Mrs. Willson was a member of Steptoe Community Church, Steptoe Grange and the Green Hollow Club.
Her husband died in 1956.
Mrs. Willson is survived by four daughters, Mary Jane Woodruff of Soccoro, N.M., Nan Harwood of Quincy, Wash., Beverly Hale of St. John, Wash., and LaVonne Mader of Hermiston, Ore.; three sons, Bill and Norman Willson, both of Colfax, and Richard Willson of St. John, Wash.; two sisters, Beulah Littleton and Edna Crow, both of Oakesdale, Wash.; 24 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Stoltz, who died Thursday, was born in Columbia Falls, Mont.
She worked as a bartender and waitress for the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 6 and at taverns in Spokane. She had lived in Spokane for 13 years.
Mrs. Stoltz was a member of the ladies auxiliaries of DAV Chapter 6 and of VFW Post 2218.
She is survived by one brother, Mike Stoltz of Columbia Falls.
Wayne Hammond Spokane
Graveside service for Wayne Milford Hammond, 79, is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hammond died Sunday. He was born in Funk, Neb.
He moved to Ione, Wash., in 1943 and joined the Navy. Following World War II, he returned to Ione and worked in the mines, at a lumber mill and for the state Highway Department. He had lived in Spokane for 17 years.
Mr. Hammond was a member of the Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one son, Jim Hammond of Spokane; one daughter, Barbara Thompson of Redding, Calif.; one stepson, Andy Lewis of Seattle; one brother, Claude Hammond, and one sister, Wanda Solberg, both of Alliance, Neb.; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Goss, a former longtime Spokane resident, died Saturday. She was born in Hutchinson, Kan.
Mrs. Goss was the housekeeping manager for the Davenport Hotel for 35 years.
She moved to Colorado Springs 10 years ago.
Her husband, Harry Goss, preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Arthur Goss of Colorado Springs; one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret Moen Vancouver, Wash.
Service for Margaret Horn Moen, a former Oakesdale, Wash., resident, was Monday at Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home in Vancouver. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oakesdale Cemetery.
Mrs. Moen, 79, died Friday in Vancouver, where she had lived for seven months. She was born in Oakesdale.
She worked in the banking industry.
She is survived by her husband, Stan Moen of Vancouver; two sons, Steve Moen of Vancouver and Scot Moen of Bothell, Wash.; one daughter, Susan Allen of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Greene died Thursday. She was born in Lamont, Wash.
She received a beautician’s license in 1952 and operated Lil’s Country Curl for about 20 years. She had lived in Spokane for 25 years.
Her husband of 36 years, Franklin Greene, died in 1972.
She is survived by five daughters, Beverly Boyes of Auburn, Wash., Sharon Patton and Sandra Orloff, both of Antioch, Calif., and Diane Mackey and Deborah Greene, both of Spokane; one son, Gregory Greene of Spokane; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Hann died Thursday.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He worked for US West Communications as a repairman. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474, Eagles Lodge 2 and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Mr. Hann is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helen Hann; two sons, Gary and Jeff Hann, both of Spokane; one sister, Alice Bundy of Spokane; one brother, Archie Hann of Yuma, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.
Helen Sederstrom Spokane
Funeral Mass for Helen A. Sederstrom, 74, was Monday at St. Ann Catholic Church. Burial was at Fairmont Memorial Park.
Mrs. Sederstrom, who died Thursday, was born in Dupont, Pa.
She was a 32-year Spokane resident and was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.
Mrs. Sederstrom was a registered nurse and served as a lieutenant junior grade in the Naval Nurses Corps for two years during World War II.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Leslie Sederstrom; four sons, Joseph and Jon Sederstrom, both of Spokane, Paul Sederstrom of Salt Lake City and Erik Sederstrom of Vallejo, Calif.; four daughters, Sallie Hamilton and Marcie Sederstrom, both of Spokane, Mary Smith of Rossland, British Columbia, and Julie French of Newman Lake; one sister, Frances Sinclair of Virginia; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Knobel, who was born in Latah, died Friday. She was a homemaker and a member of the Spokane Valley Assembly of God.
Her husband, Harry Knobel, died in 1986.
She is survived by two sons, Harlan and Wayne Knobel, both of Spokane; one sister, Laura Bippes of Kennewick; and five grandchildren.

Michael Maley St. John, Wash.
Graveside service for Michael “Mike” Maley, 53, was Monday at the Pine City (Wash.) Cemetery followed by a memorial service at St. John Methodist Church.
Mr. Maley, who was born in Spokane, died last Tuesday.
He was a farmer.
He is survived by his companion, Debbie Babb of St. John; three brothers, Bob Maley of Thornton, Wash., Jerry Maley of LaCrosse, Wash., and Don Stamback of Spokane; two sisters, Darlene Buergel of Rosalia, Wash., and Juanita Brown of Mattawa, Wash.; and Debbie’s son, Brody Babb of Rosalia.

Janice Hunter Chattaroy, Wash.
No service will be held for Janice L. Hunter, 74, at her request. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.
Mrs. Hunter, who died Friday, was born in Union County, Ohio.
She had worked as a bookkeeper before she moved to Spokane in 1982.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Hunter; one daughter, Kandis Harlow of Elk; one sister, Marie Smith of Columbus, Ohio; four granddaughters and one great-grandson.
