Potlatch Man Named Area’s Top Logger
Darby Logging of Potlatch has received Plum Creek Timber Co.’s 1995 logger of the year award for the Coeur d’Alene area, the company announced.
“Mark Darby has been contracting with Plum Creek for several years now and has been doing an outstanding job,” said Brent Stinnett, production superintendent for Plum Creek.
Criteria for the award includes how well a logging company follows state logging laws, documented efforts at environmental education, a good safety record, good communication with contract administrators and producing high-quality logs, Stinnett said.
Darby was given the award at Plum Creek’s annual contractor’s meeting. His crew received jackets from Plum Creek identifying them as environmental loggers with the company’s name and hometown in the back.
Plum Creek’s Coeur d’Alene unit covers 200,000 acres and includes offices in St. Maries and Coeur d’Alene, as well as in Newport, Wash., and Arden, Wash. , DataTimes
