Jack Pulliam Deer Park

Service for Jack E. Pulliam, 72, will be at 1 p.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church in Deer Park. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Pulliam died Monday. He was born in Spokane and was a longtime Deer Park resident.

He was an equipment operator for Wilson Construction in high-line power construction. He retired in the early 1980s.

He was a charter member of Eagles Lodge No. 3564 in Deer Park and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 73.

Mr. Pulliam is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dorothy of Deer Park; two daughters, Donna Thomas of Chattaroy and Sharon Hawn of Ketchikan, Alaska; one son, Lloyd Pulliam of Ritzville, Wash.; two brothers, Jesse Pulliam of Mead and Leonard Pulliam of Spokane; two sisters, Marie Wold and Bernadine Fox, both of Index, Wash.; two stepsons, James Floch of Priest River, Idaho, and Herb Floch of Seattle; four stepdaughters, Dean Robb of Mead, Geraldine Herigstad and Doll Fitzgerald both of Spokane, and Pat Evans of Chattaroy; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joaun Clark Spokane

Memorial service for Joaun R. Clark, 69, is planned for 3 p.m. today at Unitarian Universalist Church. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Clark, who died Monday, was born in Jennings, Kan. She had lived in Spokane for 40 years.

She graduated from the University of Southern California, received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University, and was working on her master’s degree at Eastern Washington University.

She taught English, journalism and creative writing at East Valley High School and retired earlier this year.

She had worked for the Spokane Civic Theatre in the 1970s, and was a member of the Toastmasters Club, Unitarian Universalist Church and the National English Teachers Association.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Maher of Spokane and Daniel Maher of Pullman; one daughter, Danielle Maher of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Norma Martin of Seattle; and one grandson.

Jack Coates Spokane

Memorial service for Jack D. Coates, 64, will be at 2 p.m. today at Northview Bible Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Coates, who died Tuesday, was born in Ogden, Utah.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier USS Princeton. After the war he graduated from college in Utah.

He worked for W.T. Grant in Ogden and was the manager of a W.T. Grant store in Eugene, Ore. He moved to Spokane 35 years ago and for more than 20 years was part owner of Dahken.

He was a member of Northview Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sharlene Coates; two sons, Brian Coates of Everett and Curtis Coates of Kirkland, Wash.; two sisters, Delores Garver and Betty; four brothers, Jimmy, Kenneth, Wesley and Glen Coates; his stepmother, Barbara Coates; and four grandchildren.

Clara Jones Spokane

Service for Clara M. Jones, 93, is planned for 2 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Jones died Saturday at home. She was born in Buckley, Wash.

She was raised in the Okanogan Valley, where her parents homesteaded.

When she was a teenager, she helped her parents operate a restaurant in Okanogan. She was one of the first apple packers when the Boston and Okanogan Orchard began producing in 1917.

She married Clarence Jones in 1920.

During World War II her husband worked for the Federal Public Housing Administration, and they moved to Spokane. He died in 1979.

Mrs. Jones is survived by one son, Arthur Jones of Spokane; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Czinger Spokane

Service for Dorothy N. Czinger, 79, is planned for 10 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Czinger, who died Tuesday, was born in Wausa, Neb.

She was an 18-year Spokane resident and had formerly lived in Long Beach, Calif. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Czinger is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Czinger; two sons, John Czinger III of Short Hills, N.J., and David Czinger of Spokane; one brother, Norris Bernard of Spokane; four sisters, Fern Smith of Seal Beach, Calif., and Carmen Rafferty, Alice Gee and Lucille Jancik, all of Redding, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Bernadean Terry Medical Lake

Memorial service for Bernadean Terry, 73, will be at 1 p.m. today at Lake City Assembly of God in Medical Lake. Burial was at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-Medical Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Milwaukee, Mrs. Terry died Tuesday.

Her husband, James Terry, was a pastor with the Assemblies of God for 40 years in Newport, Wash., and the Spokane area.

She had lived in Spokane county since 1964.

She was a member of New Life Assembly of God in Cheney.

Mrs. Terry is survived by her husband; two sons, Dale Terry of Vancouver, Wash., and Wayne Terry of Medical Lake; two daughters, Serene Beckman of Ellensburg, Wash., and Serill Wohr of Honolulu; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Quentin Johnson Spokane

Service for Quentin Dale Johnson, 77, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Mr. Johnson, who was born in Clark, S.D., died Tuesday.

He married Pauline Ridlen in 1950. They farmed in Clark and in Haxtun, Colo., before moving to Spokane in 1963.

In Spokane they lived and worked at the Spokane Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Johnson retired from the center in 1984 after 21 years.

He also served as a minister at Monroe Park Gospel Chapel for 10 years. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Daniel, Keith and Marvin Johnson, all of Spokane; three brothers, Newman, Royal and Robert Johnson; one sister, Hazel Wagar; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Donald Brown Davenport, Wash.

Visitation for Donald C. Brown, 65, is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport. Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport.

Mr. Brown, who was born in Davenport, died Tuesday.

He graduated from Davenport High School and went to work for the Lincoln County Road Department.

He married Betty Jean Rasmussen in 1951.

Mr. Brown enlisted in the Air Force and after military service returned to Davenport. He worked for the Lincoln County Road Department until he retired when he was 49.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years; two daughters, Yvonne Paul of Davenport and Anna Parsons of Shelton, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Davenport Swimming Pool Fund or the Davenport Library.

James McArthur Sr. Spokane

Memorial service for James A. McArthur Sr., 84, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. There will be private inurnment.

Born in Anaconda, Mont., Mr. McArthur died Monday.

Mr. McArthur lived for 52 years in Butte, Mont., where he worked as a miner. He moved to Spokane 32 years ago.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Cathedral.

He is survived by two sons, James McArthur Jr. of Spokane and Paul McArthur of Vancouver, Wash.; two daughters, Mary McArthur of Spokane and Suzanne McArthur of Libby, Mont.; one brother, Robert McArthur of Butte; one sister, Helen Howard of Yakima; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
