Historical House Slips Off Foundation

Associated Press

Bright yellow police tape and “NO TRESPASSING” signs now surround the house Nathaniel built.

The Nathaniel Orr House, built by its namesake in 1857, used to be a historical site until it slid off its foundation and into the yard.

The house now sits, tilted at an angle, with fallen shingles and a caved-in back porch.

Though no one’s determined the exact cause of Monday’s six-foot slide to the northwest, most folks believe the old house literally fell victim to heavy rains that weakened its support system.
