The Chicago Bears celebrated coach Dave Wannstedt’s 44th birthday by signing a quarterback almost as old.

Dave Krieg, who will be 38 in October, signed a one-year contract for about $400,000. Krieg’s base salary as starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals last year was $1.7 million.

Tight end Eric Green underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, which he injured following the Miami Dolphins’ recent quarterback school.

The Detroit Lions signed running back Derrick Moore to a one-year contract.
