It’s not a fight for world supremacy, but a Providence firm and on-line giant CompuServe are headed to court over a global issue.

A globe is featured prominently in the logos for CompuServe and Log On America, a 2-year-old firm that for a fee links homes and businesses to the Internet.

Log On America sued CompuServe in U.S. District Court after receiving a May 1 letter from the Columbus, Ohio-based company alleging trademark infringement and threatening legal action. The letter noted similarities in CompuServe’s symbol and the Log On America logo.
