Fulton ‘Gib’ Gale Jr. Camas, Wash.

Family service for Fulton G. “Gib” Gale Jr. was held at Springridge Retirement Center in Wilsonville, Ore. Brown’s Funeral Home of Camas, Wash., was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gale, a former resident of Spokane as well as Hayden, Idaho, died Friday. He was born in Walla Walla.

Mr. Gale was a founding member of the architectural firm of Culler, Gale, Martell & Erickson, which had offices in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene.

He graduated from the University of Idaho and received his Washington architect’s license in 1950.

Mr. Gale was 25 when he was made an Army lieutenant colonel in 1943. He was commander of a tank battalion in the European Theater.

He was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star in addition to other decorations.

He served as commandant of the Spokane Army Reserve School from 1966 until 1970. He received the Legion of Merit award in 1970 for outstanding performance as school commandant.

Mr. Gale lived in Spokane from 1943 until 1960, when he moved to Hayden. He lived in Hayden until 1990.

He was a member of Phi Delta Theta, the Coeur d’Alene Rotary Club, the Exchange Club, Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce, and the Hayden Lake Country Club.

Mr. Gale is survived by his wife, Markie Gale; two sons, Tony Gale of Seattle and Marc Gale of Gresham, Ore.; one daughter, Penny Rasmussen of Portland; one brother, Cope Gale of Coeur d’Alene; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

John “Jack” Minkler Spirit Lake, Idaho

At his request, no service will be held for John D. “Jack” Minkler, 84. English Funeral Chapel of Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Minkler, who was born in Krupp, Wash., died Monday.

He was a farmer in Pomeroy, Wash., for 30 years before moving to Spirit Lake in 1977. He had also worked as an agricultural consultant.

He was a member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1473 in Spirit Lake, and the Disabled American Veterans of Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Minkler was a survivor of Wake Island, Guam and Cavite. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, in 1993.

Survivors include three sons, John Minkler Jr. of Spokane, David Minkler of Oregon and James Minkler of Coeur d’Alene; one brother, Elton Minkler of Oregon; one sister, Jeanne Young of Pasco; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Terry Thies Spokane

Service for Terry R. Thies, 59, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Thies died Monday. He was a lifetime Spokane resident.

He graduated from West Valley High School and Eastern Washington University.

In 1959 he married Marlene Hagen in Spokane.

He worked for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Co. in Trentwood for 29 years as a system analyst.

He was a member of the Valley Boosters Bowling League.

Mr. Thies is survived by his wife, Marlene Thies; two sons, Kevin and Keith Thies, both of Kent, Wash.; one daughter, Kelli Borden of Spokane; his parents, Alfred and Leone Thies of Spokane; two brothers, Roger and Warren Thies, both of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Clifford Olsen Dover, Idaho

Graveside service for Clifford Elemer Olsen, 84, will be today at 10 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Olsen, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Tuesday.

He has been a resident of Dover since 1922 and had worked as a carpenter, electrician and plumber.

Survivors include a sister, Ruth Oliver of Sandpoint, and a brother, Ed Olsen of Ponderay, Idaho.

Hogan Adair Spokane

Visitation for Hogan I. Adair, 75, is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Havana Ward Chapel.

Mr. Adair, who died Tuesday, was born in Oderville, Utah. His parents helped pioneer southern Utah.

He lived in Spokane from 1964 until the late 1970s. He worked for Utter Cadillac, Barton Oldsmobile and Tom Price auto dealership.

Mr. Adair moved to California, where he operated an auto body shop in San Jose. In 1989 he retired and returned to Spokane.

He aworked as a courier for the Spokane Railway Credit Union after he retired.

During World War II he served in the Signal Corps in the European Theater.

Mr. Adair is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Adair; three sons, Don and Tim Adair, both of Spokane, and Eric Adair of, Valencia, Calif.; two daughters, Marilyn Slagle of Grants Pass, Ore., and Mary Ann Webb of Spokane; three sisters, Helen Nielsen of Salt Lake City, Emily Wagner of Mesa, Ariz., and Lena Brinkerhoff of Glendale, Utah; and 11 grandchildren.

Janice Teichmer Spokane

Service for Janice F. Teichmer, 52, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Freeze Church north of Potlatch, Idaho. Burial will follow at Freeze Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home of Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Teichmer died Monday of cancer. She was born in Moscow, Idaho.

In 1962 she married Donald Pederson in Lewiston. They were later divorced.

She was a homemaker and had worked at the Sheraton Inn in Renton, Wash., for five years in the late 1960s.

She lived in Potlatch from 1973 until 1985.

She married James Teichmer in 1986 in Coeur d’Alene. They settled in Spokane.

Survivors include her husband, James; one son, Dusty Teichmer of Spokane; two daughters, Kim Cochrane of Princeton, Idaho, and Lori Hagedorn of Lewiston; three brothers, Jim and Larry Wagar, both of Albany, Ore., and Gary Wagar of Lewiston; three sisters, Sharon Hunt, Judy Libey and Linda Owens, all of Onaway, Idaho; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Lorraine Prosser Spokane

Funeral Mass for E. Lorraine Prosser, 70, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Prosser, former owner of the West Side Cafe, died Sunday. She was born in Kevin, Mont.

She had lived in Spokane since 1944 and was a member of the Spokane Women’s Bowling Association.

Her husband, Wally Prosser, died in 1991.

She is survived by four daughters, Kathy Hays of Yelm, Wash., and Barbara Long, Colleen Olson and Mary Prosser, all of Spokane; one sister, Betty Davies of Wadena, Minn.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ella Robnett Spokane

Visitation for Ella K. Robnett, 92, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Riverside Memorial Park. Memorial service is set for 2 p.m. June 5 at Fowler United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Robnett died Saturday. She was a lifetime Spokane resident.

She worked as a buyer for J.W. Graham Co. for 20 years, and then as a receptionist and secretary in a doctor’s office. She retired in 1965.

Mrs. Robnett was a member of Fowler United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 163.

Her husband of 40 years, Gordon Robnett, died in 1992.

She is survived by one brother, John Hansen of Spokane; one stepson, David Robnett of Bellevue, Wash.; and two stepgrandchildren.

Ronald Derogatis Colville, Wash.

Graveside services for Ronald C. Derogatis, 57, will be at 2 p.m. today at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville. Memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Colville. Danekas Funeral Home in Colville, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Derogatis died Monday. He was born in Spokane.

He graduated from North Central High School and served three years in the Marine Corps.

He returned to Spokane and worked for Spokane Safe and Lock for 10 years.

Mr. Derogatis moved to Colville 25 years ago and was the owner and operator of Ronnie D’s Drive-In and Ron’s Stop and Shop in Colville.

He was a member of the Inland Empire Arabian Horse Association and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Betty; four daughters, Lori Clark, Kelli Struck and Lanette Morgan, all of Colville, and Ronda Clawson of Loon Lake, Wash.; one sister, Judi Kniess of Gleason, Wis.; and eight grandchildren.

Grace Gonyou Kirkland, Wash.

Graveside service for Grace L. Gonyou, 83, is set for 3 p.m. today at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane. Bleitz Funeral Home of Bellevue, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gonyou, a former longtime Spokane resident, died Saturday. She was born in Spokane.

She was a retired J.C. Penney sales associate.

She moved to Kirkland two years ago.

Her husband, John Gonyou, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Jeanie Ederer of Kirkland; one son, James Gonyou of Midwest City, Okla.; one brother, Bill McGregor of Spokane; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ursula Douglas Spokane

Memorial service for E. Ursula Douglas, 95, will be at 2 p.m. today at Rosalia (Wash.) United Methodist Church. Schanzenbach Funeral Home of Rosalia is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Douglas, who died Friday, was born in Rosalia. She had lived in Spokane for 40 years.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, Vane Douglas; one daughter, Claudia Greenamyer of Spokane; two sisters, Marceline Pelley and Virginia Rockie; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Rosalia.

Violet Johnson Spokane

Memorial service for Violet G. Johnson, 90, is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South.

Mrs. Johnson, who was born in Pateros, Wash., died Monday.

She was a 47-year Spokane resident and received a teaching degree from Eastern Washington State College.

She was an elementary schoolteacher in Spokane School District 81 and the Freeman School District. She retired in 1962 after 22 years of teaching.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Washington State Retired Teachers Association and Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Allenton and Robert Allenton Jr., both of Spokane, and Donald Allenton of Colville, Wash.; two sisters, Eunice Johnson of Escondido, Calif., and Connie Van Horn of Lummi Island, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Isaac Bouck Spokane

Service for Isaac Bouck, 78, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Private inurnment is planned.

Mrs. Bouck, who died Monday, was born in Idaho Falls.

He was a 50-year Spokane resident and worked as a piano technician for Jennings Piano.

He was a master sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II and participated in the Normandy invasion.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lilian Bouck; four sons, John Bouck of Greenacres, Steve Bouck of Spokane, Richard Bouck of Nine Mile Falls and Phil Bouck of Spokane; one daughter, Lois Ellis of Spokane; one brother, four sisters, six grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.

John Thurber Sr. Spokane

Memorial gathering for John L. Thurber Sr., 79, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Dewey’s East.

Mr. Thurber, a 40-year Spokane Valley resident, died Saturday.

He was born in Colville, Wash.

He served in the Army Air Corps as an aerial reconnaissance photographer.

He later worked as a photographer and photo lab technician. He retired from Andrews Machinery in 1978.

Mr. Thurber is survived by his wife of 38 years, Margaret Thurber; two sisters, Evelyn Phillips and Kathryn Wynn, both of Spokane; two sons, John Thurber Jr. of Tacoma and James Thurber of Lakeside, Ore.; two stepsons, Lee Graves of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Don Graves of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Arthur Boquist Quincy, Calif.

Memorial service for Arthur W. Boquist, 74, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sherman Community Church, northeast of Wilbur, Wash. Private inurnment is planned.

Mr. Boquist died Dec. 16 in Sunnyvale, Calif., where he had lived since 1983. He was born in Great Falls, Mont.

He graduated from high school in Creston, Wash., and later served as a radar operator in the Navy during World War II.

He married Faye Martin in 1942.

Following the war, Mr. Boquist managed sewing machine stores in Washington, Idaho and California. He retired in 1983.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, April Keenan of Quincy, Calif.; three sons, Barry Boquist of Cupertino, Calif., and Scott and Matt Boquist, both of Sunnyvale; two sisters, Lillian Barnett of Elk and Betty Gottman of Sunnyvale; and three granddaughters.

Daisy Forrester Spokane

Memorial service for Daisy A. Forrester, 80, is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday at Central Seventh-day Adventist Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Forrester, who was born in Grand Forks, British Columbia, died Saturday.

She moved to the United States in 1953 with her family.

She was a homemaker and was a member of the Railroad Bare.

Her husband, William Forrester, died in 1991.

She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Walker and Laurel Forrester, both of Spokane, and Marjorie James of California; and four grandchildren.

Alice Blegen Spokane

No service will be held for Alice S. Blegen, 99, at her request. There will be private burial.

Born in Hickson, N.D., Miss Blegen died Sunday.

She graduated from LaCrosse (Wis.) Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing.

She continued in graduate study at a maternity hospital in Chicago. She had a 45-year career as a registered nurse working in Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle and Spokane.

Early in her career she worked at Edgecliff Sanitarium in Spokane. She later worked at St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital.

She retired in 1966.

She moved to Denver, and she returned to Spokane in 1988.

Survivors include one brother, Anders Blegen, and one sister, Helen Dahlke of Spokane.

Gabriel Salokar Vancouver, Wash.

No service will be held for Gabriel R. Salokar, 23, at his request. Evergreen Funeral Home in Vancouver, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Salokar died Friday in Vancouver, where he had recently moved. He died of complications related to muscular dystrophy.

He was born in Spokane and graduated from Ferris High School. He served as United Way Poster Child for Spokane in 1978 with his twin brother, Joshua. Joshua died in 1983.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Annie and Bradley Hansen of Vancouver; his father, Robert Salokar of Tacoma; one brother, Joe Salokar of Vancouver; and his grandparents, Lee and Edna Hegel of Mohler, Wash., Roger and Joanne Hansen of Pollack Pines, Calif., and Joan Burke of Port Orchard, Wash.
