Uncertain Data Stalls Dollar

The dollar finished little changed against major currencies Wednesday after the latest batch of German economic data failed to give any hints about the direction of interest rates.

The dollar narrowly rose against the German mark while slipping against the Japanese yen as investors kept their trades to a minimum ahead of the Memorial Day weekend in the United States.

By 4 p.m. in New York, the dollar traded at 1.5428, marks, up from 1.5425. The dollar also was trading at 107.03 yen, down from 107.18.
