World Wide Web sites have been chronicling the recent tragedies involving mountaineers on Mount Everest.

Outside Online, at http://outside.starwave.com/outside/online/peaks/, has been carrying reports on two Everest expeditions, one led by Scott Fischer of Seattle, who died in a recent storm. The other is led by Ed Viesturs and by David Breashears, who is filming an IMAX movie.

Everest Assault ‘96, at http://www.nbc.com/everest/, also had been tracking the progress of Fischer’s team.

PBS’ “Nova” has a Web site devoted to the Breashears climb at http://www.wgbh.org/nova.
