Man, 85, Accused In Shooting

From Staff Reports

An 85-year-old Wilbur, Wash., man accused of shooting his stepson, is expected to surrender to Lincoln County authorities today.

Virgil Cremeen will be charged with first-degree assault, said Clark Colwell, special deputy prosecutor.

Cremeen is accused of shooting Jim Pope in the chest with a shotgun Monday evening, Colwell said. The shooting occurred Monday at Cremeen’s home.

Colwell said Pope, who is in his mid-30s, was arguing with an acquaintance when Cremeen interceded and fired the shot.

Pope was treated at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane and released Tuesday. , DataTimes
