British Beef Found At Paris Restaurant

French authorities threatened to shut down the Hard Rock Cafe in Paris on Thursday after finding 300 kilos of contraband. The haul? British beef.

The restaurant insisted it could prove that the 660 pounds of beef were from Ireland, and therefore not affected by a French ban prompted by fears that British beef was infected with a brain-wasting disease.

The ban was imposed after British authorities acknowledged a possible link between mad cow disease and a deadly brain illness in humans.

Veterinary Services agents were on a routine search Monday when they discovered the beef.
