Eagles Edge EV In Overtime

Gabrielle McClintock’s penalty-kick goal in overtime lifted the West Valley Eagles to a 1-0 win over the East Valley Knights in the first round of the Frontier League playoffs Saturday at Riverside.

West Valley’s defense smothered the Knights, allowing only two shots on goal. Eagles goalie Stacey Roberts went the distance for the shutout. EV goalie Anita Heaton had 13 saves.

West Valley will play Deer Park/ Riverside Tuesday at Riverside at 2 p.m. for the lone AA District 7 seed to state.

Tracy Koesel scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to lead Deer Park/Riverside to a 5-0 victory over Cheney.

Bernice Stime got DP/R rolling with a goal 2 minutes into the game. Larissa Mueller and Koesel added goals to give DP/R a 3-0 lead at the half. DP/R’s final goal was scored by Nicki Snyder.
