Sweeney Notches 200th Win
Jim Sweeney became the 16th major-college football coach to achieve 200 victories Saturday night when Fresno State beat Boise State 41-7 in a non-conference matchup at Fresno, Calif.
Michael Pittman rushed for 212 yards and a touchdown as FSU (4-4) got the milestone victory for Sweeney, who has announced his retirement after 19 seasons at Fresno State and 32 overall in coaching.
Pittman’s 20-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter fueled the win over the Big West Conference Broncos.
Quarterback Jim Arellanes had scoring passes of 10 yards to Greg Minnatee and 32 yards to Morell Ollis and Johann Lyssand kicked field goals of 24 and 39 yards in the second quarter to give Fresno a 27-0 halftime lead.
Boise State (1-8) got on the scoreboard in the third quarter on a 4-yard run by quarterback Tony Hilde.

Utah State overcame a mistake-ridden first half to capture a Big West win over North Texas in Logan, Utah, and remain undefeated in conference play.
The win puts the Aggies in line for a Las Vegas Bowl invitation.

Chris Lemon ran for three touchdowns and backup quarterback Eric Bennett passed for three more as Nevada hammered visiting New Mexico State in Reno, Nev.
The Wolf Pack rolled up 599 yards, with Lemon gaining 122 of his 144 in the first half and scoring on Nevada’s first possession.
