Quinto Prize Expires

Associated Press

Sorry, you lost.

Somebody with a winning ticket from the May 8 Quinto drawing failed to turn it in by Monday’s 5 p.m. deadline, missing out on a $1.1 million jackpot.

It is the fifth time since Quinto began in 1990 that a jackpot has gone unclaimed, Washington State Lottery spokesman Richard Paulson said. The previous largest unclaimed prize was $650,000, he said.

After withholding taxes, the winner would have received a check for $792,000, Paulson said.

The prize money now goes into an unclaimed-prizes fund, which is used for later jackpots.

Wednesday’s Quinto jackpot will be $1.8 million, while the Lotto jackpot is an even $1 million, Paulson said.
