Yelm Choir Plans Inauguration Trip

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Yelm Prairie Elementary School choir waited 2-1/2 hours for President Clinton when he visited in September for a campaign rally.

But it was worth it. The president was so impressed with the choir’s song “It Takes A Village” that he invited the choir to sing at his inauguration.

Now the choir is planning to make the trip to Washington, D.C., for the Jan. 20 ceremony.

Principal Jim Eisenhardt and organizers are now trying to raise $75,000 to pay for the trip by 68 students and 12 chaperones.

The third- and fourth-graders in the choir are practicing the song written by their teacher, Lynn Roselle Kourehdar.
