Mildred Jones Newport, Wash.

Memorial service for Mildred F. Jones, 81, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Newport First Baptist Church. Private burial will be at Newport Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jones, a lifetime Newport resident, died Tuesday.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newport and taught Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a volunteer at the Pend Oreille Pines Nursing Home for nearly 15 years.

Her husband, George Jones, died in 1972.

She is survived by two daughters, Sherrie Richardson and Lonna Love, both of Newport; two stepdaughters, Betty Earl of Newport and Rita Berg of Seattle; a son, Clifford Jones of Oldtown, Idaho; four brothers, John, Joe and Byron Elmer, all of California and Alvin Elmer of Nevada; two sisters, Ethel Miller of California and Mylena Persyn of Oldtown; 24 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Berniece Heathman Almira, Wash.

Visitation for for Berniece B. Heathman, 84, is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Wilbur, Wash. Graveside service is planned for 1:30 p.m. Monday at Almira Cemetery.

Born in Coulee City, Wash., Mrs. Heathman died Friday.

She married Carl Heathman in 1936.

They farmed before retiring in 1964 and moving into Almira.

She was a member of Almira Community Church, Highland Grange and the Garden Patchers.

Her husband died in 1983.

Mrs. Heathman is survived by a daughter, Bernadine Ray of Chattaroy, Wash.; a son, Dick Heathman of Almira; a brother, Leonard Ford of Longview, Wash.; a sister, Velma Platz of Spokane; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Charlotte Collins Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Charlotte B. Collins, 89, will be held today at 4 p.m. Yates Funeral Home, Chapel Heritage Place in Hayden Lake. Service will be held on Tuesday in Salem, Ore.

Mrs. Collins, who was born in Wyoming, died Thursday.

She grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Kearney State Teacher’s College and taught rural school.

She moved to Oregon in 1947 and worked for J.C. Penney Co. for 20 years until retiring in 1969. She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1969.

Mrs. Collins was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Ainsworth Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Salem.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1949.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon DeBauw of Spokane and Lamona Arthur-Stinnette of Coeur d’Alene; four grandchildren, Michael, David, John and Deborah; and two great-grandchilden, Jesse and Cole.

Leland ‘Lee’ Flikke Spokane

No service will be held for Leland “Lee” Flikke, 80, at his request. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. Cheney Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Flikke died Thursday at home.

He was born in Belmont, Mont.

He married Lorraine Hess in 1938 in Newport.

He came to Cheney in 1953 and worked as a manager for the Darigold Milk Co., and later worked at Gibson Grocery. In 1972 he retired from Eastern Washington University, where he worked in a warehouse.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Jerry Flikke of Cheney; a daughter, Marcene Hendrickson of Dayton, Wash.; two sisters, Melba Valley and Aleda Ladwig, both of Spokane; and nine grandchildren.
