Blm Asked To Extend Comment Period
Idaho’s congressional delegation is asking the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to extend the comment period on management of the high desert in the Owyhee Resource Area.
“The public meetings held in Murphy and Jordan Valley were widely attended, which indicates the amount of interest and concern Idahoans have in the proposal,” said the Thursday letter from the four lawmakers to Owyhee Manager Jay Carlson.
“Unfortunately, it is our understanding that many interested individuals and groups are having difficulty obtaining copies of the draft document,” said Sens. Larry Craig and Dirk Kempthorne, as well as Reps. Michael Crapo and Helen Chenoweth.
The foursome said the management plan-environmental impact statement are the controlling document of 1.8 million acres in southwestern Idaho and part of eastern Oregon.
