Bonners Ferry Grabs Many Honors

Much like the logjam during the league season, Intermountain League football coaches spread the honors around in the all-league selections.

League champion Bonners Ferry was honored as team of the year and Badgers first-year coach Ted Reynolds was selected as coach of the year.

Bonners Ferry senior all-purpose back Adam Hiatt was chosen player of the year. He rushed for 1,189 yards during the regular season.

Junior quarterback Skyler Willard of St. Maries and junior running back Russ Cosgrove of Moscow were picked as co-offensive players of the year. Willard passed for 1,448 yards and 19 touchdowns and Cosgrove gained 1,311.

Senior defensive lineman Jacob Johnson of Bonners Ferry and senior linebacker Brady White of Lakeland were selected as co-defensive players of the year.

Seniors Tyrel Hendrix of Kellogg and Drew Owen of Moscow were picked as linemen of the year.

A list of first-team selections is in the Stat Sheet.

Soccer selections

Four players from State A-1 runner-up Coeur d’Alene were named to the all-North Idaho Soccer League team by the coaches.

Coeur d’Alene midfielders and seniors Nikki Richards, Britta Anderson and Stacy Chambers and freshman forward Janee Andre were named to the first team.

Lake City juniors Jeanne Russell (goalie) and Ali Chisholm (mf) and Sandpoint seniors Jenny Wells (forward), Elisa Scherb (forward) and Jodi McKitrick (forward) were also named to the first team.

Viks coach resigns

Saying he was frustrated by pesky parents, Coeur d’Alene girls soccer coach David Tabakman has resigned.

Tabakman coached the Vikings to a runner-up finish at the state tournament two weeks ago. CdA finished the season 19-5. His three-year record was 35-18-5.

He resigned earlier in the fall as the boys head coach.

Tabakman said his overall experience was positive with the players and parents. But a minority of parents made things difficult.
