Obituaries

Ernest Daniel Spokane

Visitation for Ernest B. “Ernie” Daniel, 85, is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial service will be at noon Monday at Spokane Memorial Gardens with a memorial service to follow at the funeral home.

Mr. Daniel died Thursday.

Born in Wyola, Mont., he was a 34-year resident of Spokane.

Mr. Daniel, a retired railroad worker, was a member of the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railroad Employees, the Maintenance of Way Lodge No. 82 and the Washington Old Time Fiddlers.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frieda Daniel; two daughters, Doris Powell and Linda Sobczak; two sons, Wayne and Benjamin Daniel; two sisters, Hazel Goodwin and Evelyn Boswell; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Irene Vendramin Spokane

Service for Irene Vendramin will be at noon today at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel. Entombment will follow. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vandramin, 91, died Thursday.

She was born in Italy.

She was a homemaker and had lived in Spokane for 52 years.

Her husband, Felix Vendramin, died in 1981.

She is survived by a son, Leo Vendramin of Clarkston; a sister, Evelyn Erlandson of Bothell, Wash.; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Wallace Gardiner Spokane

No service will be held for Wallace Arthur Gardiner, 74, at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in North Kingston, R.I., Mr. Gardiner died Thursday at home.

He was a 46-year Spokane resident and worked for Ace Vending and the Coca Cola and 7-Up bottling companies before he retired in 1984.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union and was a World War II Coast Guard veteran.

His wife, Luella Mae Gardiner, died in 1993.

He is survived by a special friend, Lena Roberts of Spokane; four daughters, Paula Chapin of Sandpoint, Carla Hand of Spokane, Sara Beccaria of Eureka, Calif., and Brenda Smith of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Ruth Bergstrom of East Greenwich, R.I.; 14 grandchildren and several greatgrandchildren.

Gail Dearinger Beverly, Wash.

No service will be held for Gail E. Dearinger, 77. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of cremation. Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Mr. Dearinger, a 15-year resident of Beverly, died Nov. 4.

He was born in Tar River, Okla.

He worked as a lineman for Bonneville Power Administration.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 5926 and served in World War II.

He is survived by a daughter, Ramee Oxley, and a son, Gail Dearinger, both of Australia.

John ‘Hiny’ Russell Spokane

Visitation for John H. “Hiny” Russell, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Russell, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Wednesday. He was 88.

He attended North Central High School and worked for the city of Spokane Water Department from 1941 to 1973.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2.

His wife of 58 years, Milre Russell, died in 1984.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary Passmore and Donajeanne Bogart, both of Spokane, and Michelle Williams of Ashland, Ore.; three brothers, Robert, Thomas and Richard Russell, all of Spokane; four sisters, Louise Soll, Ruby Moore, Katrine “Teen” Mielke and Joy Schmidt, all of Spokane; 15 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret (Merriman) Mounsey Keizer, Ore.

Funeral Mass for Margaret J. Mounsey, a former Spokane resident, was Wednesday at Loyola Retreat House in Portland. Private interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Mrs. Mounsey, who was born in Spokane and graduated from Holy Names Academy, died Nov. 8.

She attended the University of Washington and the University of Idaho, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

She married James Mounsey in 1945 in Spokane. The couple lived in Spokane until 1965, when they moved to Sheridan, Wyo.

They later moved to Portland and had lived in Keizer since 1989.

Her husband died in 1991.

Mrs. Mounsey is survived by five sons, Mark Mounsey of Portland, Mike Mounsey of Vancouver, Wash., John and Tim Mounsey, both of Tacoma, and Jim Mounsey of Fresno, Calif.; four brothers, James Merriman of Spokane, Nick and Tim Merriman, both of Portland and Mike Merriman of Lincoln City, Ore.; and two granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Portland or St. Francis Xavier Building Fund in Missoula in care of Bollman Funeral Home, 694 Main St., Dallas, OR 97338.

John Llewellyn Spokane

No service will be held for John P. Llewellyn. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of cremation. Burial will be at Arlington (Va.) National Cemetery.

Born in Cleveland, Tenn., Mr. Llewellyn, 69, died Wednesday.

He had lived in Spokane for 30 years and worked as a freight handler for Mayflower Moving Co.

He was a disabled veteran and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

There are no surviving family members.
