Shirley Ott Pullman

Memorial service for Shirley K. Ott, 96, is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pullman. Burial will be at the Ritzville (Wash.) Cemetery at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ott, a 28-year Pullman resident, died Thursday at Palouse Hills Nursing Home in Pullman.

She was born in Madison, Wis., and moved to Spokane when she was in elementary school.

She also lived in Ritzville and in Rathdrum, Idaho, where she graduated from high school. She received a teaching certificate from Cheney Normal School.

She taught for two years in the Ritzville area and in rural one-room schools.

In 1920, she married John Ott. They lived in Ritzville for 47 years.

Her husband died in 1968. She moved to Pullman in 1972 and lived with one of her daughters.

Mrs. Ott was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ritzville Zenith Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the P.E.O Sisterhood and the Neighborly Neighbors and was an honorary member of the Pullman Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Association.

Survivors include two daughters; Shirley Ott Kiehn of Pullman and Jeanette Ott Burford of Clearwater, Idaho; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Frank ‘Smitty’ Smith San Antonio, Texas

Memorial service for Frank “Smitty” Smith, 79, was Saturday in Harrison, Idaho.

Mr. Smith, who was born in Harrison, died Nov. 4.

He served in the Army, then returned to Harrison and managed the gas docks at the Gateway Marina for many years before retiring.

He moved to San Antonio, Texas, earlier this year to be near family.

Mr. Smith was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Harrison and also was a member of the Harrison Senior Citizens. He was instrumental in the fund-raising drive in 1979 for a new ambulance for the Harrison community.

Survivors include a son, Larry Smith of San Antonio; his mother, Rosie Foster of St. Maries; sister, Helen Patterson of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Lorna (Bovee) Fink Scottsdale, Ariz.

Memorial service for Lorna (Bovee) Fink, a former Spokane and Twin Lakes, Idaho resident, was held in Scottsdale.

Mrs. Fink died Wednesday. She was born in Seattle. She was 63.

She was a former teacher and had lived in Spokane for more than 35 years.

She graduated from Whitworth College and was an elementary teacher at Balboa and Whitman Elementary schools. She served as a volunteer teacher at Anna Ogden Hall and had been on the staff of the YWCA.

She was a member of the Spokane Area Retired Educators Association.

She and her husband, Eugene Fink, spent summers at Twin Lakes, Idaho. They moved to Scottsdale a year ago.

Mrs. Fink is survived by her husband; two daughters, SherriLynn Bovee and Jeanette King; two stepdaughters, Lori King of Spokane and Karen O’Neall of Seattle; two stepsons, Randy Fink of Spokane and Brian Fink of Seattle; a sister, Marilyn Snodgrass of Shelton, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

June (Gribben) Larsen Cottonwood, Ariz.

Services for June (Gribben) Larsen, 79, will be held. Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Larsen, a former longtime Spokane resident, died Wednesday.

She was born in Chicago.

She worked for Pacific Northwest Bell as a supervisor in Spokane.

Seventeen years ago she and her husband, Edward Larsen, moved to San Diego, where they stayed for about a year, and then moved to Cottonwood.

She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Mrs. Larsen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edward; a daughter, Linnell Kunavitch of Chula Vista, Calif.; a son, Eddie Larsen of the Spokane Valley; and four grandchildren.

Brian Baer Spokane

Memorial service for Brian T. Baer, 52, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Baer died Wednesday at home from AIDS-related complications.

He was born in Port Angeles, Wash., and grew up in southern Oregon.

He graduated from the Bryan College of Court Reporting in Los Angeles and was a licensed shorthand reporter.

He moved to Spokane with his family in 1975.

He was an official reporter for Spokane County Superior Court from 1978 to 1993. Mr. Baer was a member of the National Court Reporters Association and the Washington Shorthand Reporters Association and served as president-elect and president of the state association form 1980 to 1984.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Baer; and a son, Justin Baer of Seattle.

Alyce Galbraith Sacramento, Calif.

Graveside service for Alyce Pazer Galbraith, 72, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Galbraith died Thursday in Sacramento.

She was born in Helena.

She worked as a legal secretary and an assistant office manager while she lived in Spokane for more than 42 years.

Mrs. Galbraith moved to Sacramento 20 years ago.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose, American Business Women’s Association, Legal Secretary Association, Insurance Women’s Group and Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a son, Dan Galbraith of Antelope, Calif.; a daughter, Bobbie Walter of San Mateo, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Julie Ann Pazer Binderman of Spokane; two sisters, Leona King of Sacramento and Vesta Mae Bambino of Spokane; two brothers, Thomas Maypole of Spokane and Warren Maypole of Seminole, Texas; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lilly Clark Spokane

Memorial service for Lilly E. Clark, 72, was Saturday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clark died Wednesday.

She was born and raised in California and moved to Spokane in 1981.

She was involved with We Care Ministries, serving individuals in convalescent homes.

She is survived by her husband of eight years, Ray Clark; three daughters, Carolyn Fraser of Prescott, Ariz., Linda Waseca and Colleen Uno, both of Spokane; three sons, Charles Ratzlaff of Apple Valley, Calif., Dale Clark of Anacortes, Wash., and Gene Clark of Spokane; a sister, Adeline Meier of Deer Park; 10 grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
