Hunting

Hunters who shoot banded waterfowl have a simpler way to help wildlife researcher. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has started a toll-free telephone hotline for reporting federal bands attached to the legs of waterfowl.

Call (800) 327-2236.

In return for providing the date and area where the bird was killed, the hunter will receive a card telling the age of the bird and where it was banded. Hunters are not required to return the metal bands.
