Joan Durkin Spokane
Visitation for Joan V. Durkin, 69, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home. Family graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Memorial Park. Memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Durkin, who died Sunday, was born in Spokane, and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and Vassar College. She taught high school in Great Falls, Mont., and also taught at Spokane Community College.
She had lived in Spokane for 40 years.
She was a member of Junior League, the American Association of University Women, the Whitworth Auxiliary, P.E.O. Chapter CL, the League of Women Voters, Town and Country Book Club, Manito Country Club and The Spokane Club.
Survivors include a son, Steve Durkin of Great Falls; a daughter, Cathy Winkleman of Spokane; a brother, Ernie Ruehl of Orinda, Calif.; a sister, Dorothy Walker of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

Lela Vens Rockford
Visitation for Lela P. Vens, 78, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with private burial at Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Vens, who was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, died Sunday.
She grew up in Mica and graduated from high school in Valleyford.
She worked as an in-home caregiver and at Fairfield Good Samaritan Center. She also had been a sheep and cattle rancher in the Rockford-Worley (Idaho) area.
She was a 50-year Rockford resident.
Her husband of 36 years, Victor Vens, died in 1975.
She is survived by her companion of 20 years, James MacLean; two sons, Mickey Vens of Spokane and Phillip Vens of Amboy, Wash.; a daughter, Victoria Miller of Coeur d’Alene; four brothers, Paul Nelson of Rockford, Andy and Dick Nelson, both of Fresno, Calif., and Bobby Nelson of Missouri; seven sisters, Elsie Kopp of Mica, Karen Jones of Spokane, Virginia Stratton and Rose Brown, both of Lewiston, Faye Smith of Maple Valley, Wash., and Judy Freeze and Alice Wilson, both of Salinas, Calif.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Milletta Gering Spokane
Visitation for Milletta I. Gering, 94, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2 p.m. at Sunset Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Born in Starkweather, N.D., Mrs. Gering died Saturday.
She and her husband, Walter Gering, farmed for many years in the Ritzville, Wash., area. They were members of the Mennonite Church in Ritzville.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Mrs. Gering had lived at Hawthorne Manor for the past 10 years.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Marcella Riep Kellogg
Memorial service for Marcella Hutton Riep, 77, will be today at 10 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Riep, who was born in Kellogg, died Sunday.
She graduated from Holy Names High School in Spokane and attended the University of Idaho. She was coowner of Hutton’s Department Store in Kellogg.
Mrs. Riep was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1986. Survivors include a daughter, Loretta Cannon of Cheney; two sons, R.P. Wollaston of Texas and John Wollaston of Kent, Wash.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Kathleen Hair Newport, Wash.
Service for Kathleen Susan Hair, 44, is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Spokane. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of cremation.
Mrs. Hair, who died Saturday from cancer, was born in Moses Lake.
She married Randall Hair in Spokane in 1991. They moved to Newport, where she worked as a sales clerk, a teacher’s aide and for a pharmacy.
She and her husband also recently began working at the Raven Hill Mine in Newport.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Tracie DesAutel, Deer Park; a son, Corey Darilek of Newport; her parents, Reginald and Fannie Peacock of Deer Park; five brothers, Jim Peacock of Juneau, Alaska, and Ken, Ron, Bill and John Peacock, all of Spokane; a sister, Shirley Herrbach of Spokane; and a granddaughter.

Lovetta ‘Lou’ Hickman Spokane
Memorial service for Lovetta “Lou” Hickman, 72, will be at 2 p.m. today at the United Church of Tekoa (Wash.). The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of cremation.
Mrs. Hickman, who died Saturday, was born in Bemidji, Minn.
She had worked as a waitress and cook and operated several restaurants. She was also a chinchilla rancher for several years. She had lived in Spokane for more than 30 years.
Mrs. Hickman is survived by five daughters, Thiry Mahon of Denver, Cheryl Liberty of Tekoa, Linda Clarneau of Clarkston, Wash., and Twila Norton and Leslie Woodworth, both of Spokane; five sons, Almon Kern of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jerry Eggleston of Latah, Wash., Kenneth Kern of Spokane, and Scott and Calvin Kern, both of Tekoa; two brothers, George Lake of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dale Pitmon of Bremerton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Thomas Moulding Spokane
Memorial service for Thomas L. Moulding, 90, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home.
Mr. Moulding, a 20-year Spokane resident, died Saturday.
He was born in Wheatland, Wyo.
He was a farmer and had worked as a custodian at First Interstate Bank.
Mr. Moulding was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mayme Moulding; a daughter, Mary Ellen Blake of Salt Lake City, Utah; a son, Robert Moulding of Spokane; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Jeffry Bradshaw Bellingham
Memorial service for Jeffry Alan Bradshaw, 37, will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Bellingham. Inurnment will be at Bayview Cemetery in Bellingham. Jones-Moles Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Bellingham is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bradshaw, a former Spokane resident, died Saturday.
He was born in Spokane and lived here for 20 years.
He was a 1984 graduate of Western Washington University and had worked for Texaco Refinery in Anacortes, Wash. He was a resident of Bellingham.
He served as a den leader with Cub Scouts.
Mr. Bradshaw is survived by his wife, Jody; two sons, Elliot and David Bradshaw, both at home; his parents, Walter and Geraldine Bradshaw of Spokane; two sisters, Nadine Grady of Cincinnati and Lynn Fraley of Spokane; and his grandmother, Maud Bradshaw of Spokane.
Wallace Gardiner Spokane
No service will be held for Wallace Arthur Gardiner, 74, at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in North Kingston, R.I., Mr. Gardiner died Nov. 12 at home.
He was a 46-year Spokane resident and worked for Ace Vending, Coca Cola and 7-Up bottling companies before he retired in 1984.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union and was a World War II Coast Guard veteran.
His wife, Luella Mae Gardiner, died in 1993.
He is survived by a special friend, Lena Roberts of Spokane; four daughters, Paula Chapin of Sandpoint, Carla Hand of Spokane, Sara Beccaria of Eureka, Calif., and Brenda Smith of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Ruth Bergstrom of East Greenwich, R.I.; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Arloine Dedrick Spokane
Service for Arloine Dorothy Dedrick, 79, will be at 11 a.m. today at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. There will be private burial. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dedrick, who was born in Plummer, Idaho, died Saturday.
She graduated from Eastern Washington University and was a teacher as Sacajawea Junior High School and Bancroft School in Spokane. She also taught in Everett and Arlington, Wash.
She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Survivors include a sister, Jeanne Horsey of Seattle; a brother, Joseph Jaeger of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a grandson and a great-granddaughter.

Robert Darlow Spokane
Service for Robert R. Darlow, 64, was Tuesday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Burial was at Peone Prairie Cemetery.
Mr. Darlow, who died Friday, was born in Malta, Mont.
He was a junior high school teacher and taught in Moses Lake for 12 years, in Mabton, Wash., for eight years and in Mead for a year.
He is survived by his wife, Jennine Darlow; a daughter, Jennine Murphy of Spokane; three sisters, Gertrude Foster and Margaret Garrett, both of Spokane and Alice Hodges of Butte, Mont.; two brothers, William Darlow of Helena and Jack Darlow of Stevensville, Mont.; and a granddaughter.

Dennis Allen Spokane
No service will be held for Dennis R. Allen at his request. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.
Mr. Allen, 48, died Sunday.
He was born San Diego and had lived in Spokane for 16 years.
He was a bus driver for the Spokane Transit Authority for 14 years and was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Katrina Allen; four daughters, Veronica and Denise Allen, and Kristine and Trudi Mosey, all of Spokane; his mother, Lee Allen of Florida; a brother, Tom Allen of California; a sister, Candee Allen of Seattle; and two granddaughters.
JoAnn Flores Spokane
Service for JoAnn Flores, 31, will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at City Gate. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of cremation.
Ms. Flores was found dead Nov. 7 in downtown Spokane.
She was born in Woodland, Calif., and had lived in Spokane for six years.
She worked as a waitress.
She is survived by three sisters, Vicki Abousamara, Gloria Aebarieo and Rita Nap, all of Washington; a brother, Jose Flores of Washington; and her father, Jose Flores of Oregon.
Mildred Cain Priest River, Idaho
Service for Mildred Marion (Carr) Cain, 95, will be at noon Friday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash.
Born in Michigan, Mrs. Cain died Monday.
She married Barney Cain in 1916 in Newport and was a resident of Priest River and Newport since 1915.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Priest River, the Women’s Missionary Council and the Free Methodist Church in Priest River.
Her husband died in 1992.
Mrs. Cain is survived by three daughters, Edith Adams of Spokane, Mary Zinter of Ione, Ore., and Norma Storro of Prichard, Idaho; two sons, Loren Cain of Kennewick and Gary Cain of John Day, Ore.; 27 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Ruthe Anne Sandstrom Spokane
Memorial service for Ruthe Anne Sandstrom, 87, is set for 4 p.m. Saturday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. There will be private inurnment at Riverside Memorial Park.
Mrs. Sandstrom died Nov. 11.
She was born in Spokane.
She was a homemaker and was past president of the Easter Seal Society of Washington. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and the National Board of Easter Seals.
Her husband, Leo Sandstrom, died in 1979.
She is survived by a son, Ron Sandstrom of Spokane; a daughter, Marilyn Hammer of Seattle; a sister, Louise Small of Seattle; and four grandchildren.

Rebecca Davis Spokane

Born in Tyler, Texas, Mrs. Davis died Sunday. She was 95.
She was a homemaker and served with her husband, the Rev. Eddie Davis, in Sacramento, Calif., and Wenatchee. She had lived in Spokane for 15 years.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Her husband preceded her in death.
She is survived by a sister, GeorgeEllen Richardson of Spokane.

Garold ‘Bud’ Wachsmuth Oldtown, Idaho

Mr. Wachsmuth died Sunday.
He was born in Bertha, Minn.
He served in the Navy and in the Naval Reserves for a total of 15 years.
He worked as an auto mechanic and also operated a service station in Spokane. He was a former Oldtown City Council member and was an associate supervisor of the Pend Oreille County Conservation District.
He is survived by his companion, Betty Shults of Oldtown; a daughter, Christine Prang of South Dakota; a son, Keith Wachsmuth of Spokane; two sisters, Laverna Harrison of Denver and Ardyth Hopkins of Eugene, Ore.; and three grandchildren.
