Everett Prisoners Look East

Compiled From Wire Services

Snohomish County is looking to other counties to relieve overcrowding at the jail.

Corrections Director Bill Harper said he’s talking with officials in Okanogan, Franklin, Ferry and Yakima counties. Their jails could hold some Snohomish County inmates until a new jail is built.

The project is still in the site-selection process.

Harper said nearly 100 inmates are sleeping on the floor of the jail in Everett because it’s way over its capacity of 477 inmates.
