3 Finalists For Judgeship
Three men are finalists to replace U.S. District Judge Alan McDonald of Yakima, who is moving to senior status next month.
Yakima lawyer Doug Peters, Yakima County Superior Court Judge James Gavin, and Pasco lawyer Ed Shea are the finalists, according to a letter sent by a search committee.
The committee interviewed 10 candidates to replace McDonald, 68, as the federal judge for central Washington.
As a senior judge, McDonald will continue to hear a few cases while drawing a full salary.
Sen. Patty Murray plans to interview the three finalists in the next few weeks, said press aide Rex Carney.
She will make a recommendation to President Clinton, and he’ll submit a nominee to the U.S. Senate for confirmation.
