Roy Leads In Voting

Goaltender Patrick Roy of the Colorado Avalanche has a big lead as the Western Conference’s leading vote-getter for the NHL All-Star game Jan. 18 at San Jose.

Roy, seeking his sixth starting berth in the All-Star game, had 50,997 votes through Thursday. His teammate, center Joe Sakic, is second overall with 38,753 votes.

The other Western Conference leaders are defenseman Al MacInnis of the St. Louis Blues (34,901) and Steve Chiasson of the Calgary Flames (30,670), and wings Theoren Fleury of the Flames (34,347) and Pavel Bure of the Vancouver Canucks (33,109).
